I am sorry to disappoint you but I have to report that we did not go to Avignon. We were increasingly interested in going to the battlefields of the Somme Valley to see where the Australian fought so, after Burgundy, we went to Ribeauvillé in Alsace, then on to Reims, then Villers Bretonneux and Albert. It was very interesting to learn about the white wines of Alsace and to visit some of the Champagne houses, but we were not nearly as well informed as when with you.
I have wanted for some time to go from Barcelona to Milan by train or car and clearly that would be the opportunity to visit Avignon.
